How do I import a recipe from a website?
Open any recipe page in Safari (or your browser), copy the URL, then open BatchPrep and tap the + button on the Recipes tab. Choose "Import from URL" and paste the link. BatchPrep will automatically extract the title, ingredients, and instructions.
Most major recipe sites are supported. If a recipe doesn't import correctly, try a different recipe from the same site or add it manually.
How does the pantry and "Ready to Cook" work?
The Pantry is your inventory of ingredients you already have at home. When you add items to your pantry, BatchPrep uses this to:
- Surface "Ready to Cook" recipes — meals you can make right now with what you have
- Smarter shopping lists — only listing ingredients you actually need to buy
To add pantry items, go to the Pantry tab and tap +. You can also mark items as "in pantry" directly from any recipe's ingredient list.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
BatchPrep uses Apple's StoreKit, so your purchase is tied to your Apple ID. To restore it:
- Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID used for the original purchase
- Open BatchPrep and go to Settings
- Tap Restore Purchase
If the restore doesn't work, make sure your Apple ID is correct and you have an active internet connection. The unlock is a one-time purchase that transfers to any device on your Apple ID.
How do I share my shopping list?
Open any shopping list and tap the Share button in the top right. This opens your device's share sheet, letting you send the list via Messages, WhatsApp, email, AirDrop, or any other app. The list is shared as clean, readable text.
What happens to leftover ingredients?
BatchPrep tracks leftovers automatically. When you cook a recipe that yields more servings than your plan calls for, the extra portions are logged as leftovers. You can see all your leftovers in the Leftovers section and plan them into future meals to reduce waste.
Is my data backed up or synced?
BatchPrep stores all data locally on your device. There is no cloud sync or backup service built into the app. We recommend using your regular iPhone backup (via iCloud Backup or Finder/iTunes) to preserve your BatchPrep data.
If you delete the app, all data is permanently removed.
Can I use BatchPrep without paying?
Yes. BatchPrep is free to download and use with a limited set of recipes. The $4.99 one-time purchase unlocks the full recipe collection, URL import, and all premium features. There are no subscriptions or recurring charges.
